Blue Frozen Flower
Hey everyone and welcome to my first blog entry. Im keeping a floral theme and working on a beautiful little blue flower. Spring is just around the Corner, and I wanted to create this scene with a frozen flower, where the icing is slowly melting. I went for some grey toned paper, so the highlights and icy effect would pop, and then I sketched out a small branch and flowers.
For the colours I used copic markers. Since this drawing is quite simple I only used about 3 tones for every colour! So for the flower itself, I used B00 (Frost Blue), B02 (Robins Egg Blue), and B95 (Light Greyish Cobalt). For the details I used black and white pencils, and for the bright highlights I used a white gelly roll pen... That pen will be used a lot to create the icy effect all over the drawing
For the branch I used E37 (Sepia), E29 (Burnt Umber), and a E77 (Maroon) marker. I tried to make the branch quite dark, so the contrast between the flower, branch and ice, would be stronger. For the buds, water drops, and background I used warm Greys 3, 5, and 7.
I really enjoyed the simplicity of the drawing, while i was working on it. It's nice to sometimes just draw a small flower like this one, instead of going crazy with a project that takes days to complete
