What can you do with your leftovers ?
No, not the tacos I had for lunch yesterday. Who has a leftover Tacos? Not me for sure!
I mean your coloring leftovers.
When you color a project with Copic Markers or colored pencils, you’ve invested a lot of time coloring it. Your paper and supplies are also expensive. So if you don’t use the whole project, what can you do with your scraps?
Can I use my coloring scraps?
I am talking about the leftover coloring sheets, the pieces of paper you used to test your markers, the projects that were not good enough to be your final project but not so horrible that you want to throw them away. Paper is expensive so once I decide a project won’t be making the cut I always follow the next steps:
1 Can I fix it with pencil?
Yes! I place it in a folder with a pretty label that says “Fix with pencil”
2 Can I use parts of it to test other colors?
Yes! I cut it up in small pieces and place it in a box that stays on my desk so I can grab a piece when I do swatches or color runs.
Perfect right?
Sure, until my “Fix with Pencil” folder was full. Then “Fix with Pencil 2” was born.. When that was not enough I started a box that I envisioned would be divided into small stacks and placed in pretty hand lettered envelopes to be shipped across the country to my crafty friends…
Well guess what?
Now I have three fix it boxes.
So my scrap box kept growing! Marker paper is expensive I can't just throw it away so I did the next best thing, I just hoarded it away…. and now it’s overflowing with old projects in all sizes.
And then it dawned on me…
Repurpose your scraps!!
Do you see parts you like? Cut them out!
Yes it feels like a crime to use scissors on a project you spent so much time and dedication on but isn't it better to share it with someone else ?
I turned mine into greeting cards, I can make a great background and then add those precious colored pieces as accents.
